Scott Adair, a North Carolina native, has built
a solid reputation as a band leader, performer on
the saxophone and piano, recording musician, teacher
and entertainment representative. Scott's grandfather,
Lewis Moore, an accomplished pianist, founded Moore
Music Co. in Greensboro, NC in 1939. Scott's father,
Howard Adair, managed the family business until
his retirement in the 1980's.
His performance career has taken him throughout
the United States, Europe, Canada, South America
and the Caribbean sharing the stage with many of
the most respected names in entertainment - Ella
Fitzgerald, Bob Hope, Tony Bennett, Bill Cosby,
The Temptations, Ray Charles, Red Skelton, Dinah
Shore, Lou Rawls, Perry Como, Cab Calloway, Guy
Lombardo, The Spinners, Nancy Wilson, Paul Schaffer,
Smokey Robinson, The Embers, Dinah Shore, Rosemary
Clooney, Wayne Newton, Michael Feinstein, Frankie
Valli and numerous others. In addition, Scott has
toured extensively with The Four Tops and has toured
with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Scott performed
with The Four Tops at the 1993 Inaugural Ball for
President Bill Clinton and also appeared on two
national television broadcasts with the legendary
Motown group. In 2006 Scott performed for two functions
with the Four Tops in Detroit, Michigan during Superbowl
XL.
Scott first began organizing and representing bands
in Boston, where he graduated summa cum laude from
the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Scott’s
post-graduate education has included private studies
with internationally renown saxophonists Joe Lovano,
Pete Christlieb and George Coleman. Lovano
is a perennial award winner with Downbeat Magazine.
Christlieb is a former member of the Tonight Show
Band and a featured soloist with Steely Dan, Natalie
Cole, and countless others. Coleman is a seasoned
veteran (formerly with Miles Davis) and a senior
member of New York City’s jazz elite. Regional
studies include master classes with flutist Don
Gibson (formerly with UNC-Greensboro) and pianist
Ed Paolantonio (Durham, NC).

Scott
was the baritone saxophonist with the Hip
Pocket Horns during the 90’s.
This group was endorsed by the Yamaha Corporation
as a Yamaha Performing Ensemble. The group
enjoyed many performances and recordings as
a horn section.
As
a member of the US Airways Jazz Orchestra,
Scott's engagements included the 1996 Congressional
Medal of Honor Banquet honoring President
George H.W. Bush. In addition Scott performed
for Colin Powell at a USO function in Washington,
DC.
Recent
recording activity has resulted in several
CDs for Rock House Records, a Greensboro,
NC based recording studio featuring Blues
artists. These recordings have gained
regional and national awards in the Blues
genre.
His
orchestral appearances include dates with
the Greensboro, Charlotte and Winston Salem
symphonies and the Eastern Philharmonic Orchestra
(EMF).
Scott
also currently manages the musical talent
for 223 South Elm, an outstanding restaurant
in Greensboro. (see
